This stunning hotel, which marked the JW Marriott brand’s debut in Australia in 2021, lived up to our high expectations set by our previous stays at their properties in Cancun and Mexico City.

Ocean View King Room
Our accommodation, an Ocean View King room on the 28th floor was Bright, airy, and elegantly furnished reflecting its beachside location. The room boasted stunning views of the lagoon pool and the ocean beyond. Waking up to the sight of the sunrise over the water was a highlight of our stay.

The Lagoon Pool
The heart of the resort is its massive saltwater lagoon pool, complete with tropical fish and a white sand beach. Our choice for lounging and swimming, especially when the winds pick up at nearby Surfers Paradise Beach. The freshwater pool and spa area offered another level of relaxation. Both pools offer the convenience of poolside service from the cabana pool bar.
Evenings at Chapter & Verse Bar
Our first evening was spent relaxing at Chapter &Verse Bar, indulging in small bites and cocktails. The wagyu gyozas here come highly recommended.
Citrique Restaurant at JW Marriott Gold Coast
Our dinner at Citrique, the resort’s award winning signature restaurant, was amazing. With a focus on fresh local produce and seafood, the dishes were delicious. The Bay Bug Dumplings and Smoked Kingfish Escabeche were standout starters, while the Mushroom Gnocchi and Wagyu Flank Steak were exceptional mains. In the mornings Citrique transforms into a breakfast buffet, boasting a delicious choice of fresh produce and international breakfast options.
Misono Japanese restaurant
Though fully booked during our stay, Misono, the hotel’s Japanese restaurant, is on our list for the next visit. Known as one of the largest teppanyaki style restaurants in Surfers Paradise, it also boasts a whiskey bar, an outdoor terrace, an intimate Izakaya, and a live sushi table.
Spa by JW: The Highlight of Our Stay
The newly opened Spa by JW was certainly the highlight of our stay. The 60-minute couples bath and massage experience was amazing. The spa’s design, with its soft earthy pastel terracotta and cream tones, exudes tranquility and luxury. After our treatments, we relaxed in the lounge area with a refreshing tonic and tea. The included sauna and steam shower added to this holistic wellness experience, making Spa by JW arguably the best spa experience on the Gold Coast.
