Looking for the best places to stay in Uluwatu?

Uluwatu is one of our favourite destinations in Bali, with it’s turquoise waters and more than 10 white sand beaches to choose from its definitely worth adding to your itinerary. Uluwatu is also home to some of the most famous surf spots on the island. We often get asked where are the best places to stay in Uluwatu? after several visits we have a few favourites.

In our opinion Uluwatu is our pick if you’re after a beach getaway in Bali, as its got the cleanest water and white sands. A bonus is thats its also not far from the airport. Not only are there plenty of great beaches but there’s also many great places to stay in Uluwatu.

Here’s our top picks for the best places to stay in Uluwatu

1. Gravity

Hidden up in the hills of Uluwatu you’ll find this little gem. It may be a bit further from the beach but its a perfect stay for a poolside hang. It has 2 beautiful pools to choose from. Grab a cocktail and take in the sweeping vistas of the Bukit peninsula.

This cute little getaway amongst the palms is a great spot to base yourself. If you want to explore the area, Padang & Bingin beaches are only a couple of minutes away by scooter. Head up to the main road for a choice of cafes & restaurants. Mule Malu also boasts a beautiful pool and garden to relax around.

Perched above Bingin beach Mu Bungalows offer a variety of options from bungalows to large private villas. The horizon pool has some of the best views in the area. Watch the sunset with a cocktail or have a romantic dinner on the cliffs edge. The huge included breakfast is also a great bonus as are the optional yoga classes.

5. Temple Lodge

Beautiful spot on the cliff above Binging beach. The rooms or private pool villas have a rustic bohemian vibe. We loved the temple suite which has it’s own private pool. Their website photos don’t do it justice. It also has some excellent food at it’s own restaurant. Their hotel pool features a cliff edge terrace to enjoy those magic Bali sunsets.

7. Pink Coco

PinkCoco is a great base to explore the area. Just off the Padang main road you’ll find plenty of restaurants / cafe options. The beaches are only a short scooter drive away. Pink Coco has 2 great pools and the accomodation is well maintained, immaculately clean and great service.

The next 2 places din’t quite make it to our top list but they are still worth mention, for their unique aesthetic.

8. Villa V

If you don’t mind the thousand steep stairs down to Bingin beach, Villa V is certainly a unique stay. It has a bold minimalist concrete design & prime location right on the beach. This is definitely a great spot to get an insta worthy snap but probably not the most practical stay. The afternoon sun can get pretty intense inside the villa and the ac didn’t seem to be powerful enough. It also seemed due for a bit of maintenance.

9. Alchemist Bungalows

Another spot that didn’t quite make our top list is the Alchemist Bungalows. Youll find this spot about 10 mins scooter drive from Balangan beach. The most noteworthy area in the Alchemist is their unique white washed bohemian styled pool and chill out area. The pool area is available to non guests if you are visiting their restaurant.

When we visited the accommodation was run down and in need of maintenance therefore not really worth staying at in our opinion.

We were also disappointed to find out about their policy of no DLRS cameras allowed around the grounds even when no other guests were at the pool but phone photos are allowed.
