Best Byron Bay Hinterland Accommodation

Over the last few years calling the Byron Bay Hinterland region home, we’ve been lucky to spend time at some of its best accommodation options. We personally love staying in the hinterland area surrounding Byron Bay. You avoid the holiday crowds, yet only a short drive to everything Byron has to offer and you get a lot more privacy. Not to mention it has the best options for unique stays.

Here’s our personal list of the Best Byron Hinterland accommodation options for your next escape in no particular order.

Our top 6 Byron Bay Hinterland Stays

1. Temple Farmhouse

First up on our list of Byron Bay hinterland accommodation is Temple Farmhouse, this ultra private escape in the Byron hinterland is the perfect family or group escape sleeping up to 9 Guests. The best part are the iconic outdoor baths but we also loved the panoramic hinterland views and the huge pool! You can read more on our stay at Temple Farmhouse here.

Tip: Head into Bangalow for the farmers markets Sat morning and pick up some local produce. Perfect for a sunset picnic back on the farm.

2. Heartwood Farm

So much detail and love has been put into beautiful Heartwood farm. This stay has amazing views, perfect fire pit, the whole property is just beautiful, so make sure to go for a walk around. Get yourself a picnic and head down to the river bank .See more of Heartwood Farm here

Tip: Pop up the road to the amazing Doma Cafe in Federal for breakfast / lunch with their selection of mouth watering Japanese fusion options. Their vegan iced coffee is one of our faves.

3. Two Acres Home

Located in the tiny town of Clunes about 20 minutes into the lush hills behind Byron. This beautiful stay transported us to Tulum with its tropical surroundings. We spent most of our time enjoying the pool area and the cabana but we also loved the fire pit area with its palms backdrop. Sleeps up to 7 guests. Find out more about our Two Acres Home stay here.

Tip: Walk around to family run Clunes General Store for fresh local produce and Cafe goods. With pop up pizzas Thursday nights and fresh dumplings Friday afternoon.

4. Le Viti Newrybar

Satisfy your European vacay craving by staying at Le Viti Barn in Newrybar. We loved the alfresco dining / lounge area but the indoor area was just as beautiful and relaxing. You can read our full Le Viti Blog here our book your stay here

Tip: if staying mid week check out the Newrybar produce markets on Wednesday nights.

5. Sky Farm Hemp Villa

This little secret spot on the hills above Mullumbimby was one of our favourite stays recently. Made completely from sustainable Hempcrete. Hemp Villa sleeps 2 people and is the perfect spot for a romantic wind down weekend. The best part was breakfast out on the balcony and the alfresco bathtub with the most soothing views.

Tip: Pop down the road to chilled out town of Mullumbimby, explore around town with its great cafes, boutiques and restaurant options. Don’t miss the Mullum farmers markets on Friday morning easily one of the best!

6. The Perch Bangalow

The Perch bangalow is tucked away in the leafy hills behind Bangalow. The perch is the perfect private chill out escape. We loved the alfresco dining area, the fire pit and relaxing in the grassy backyard with its country views. See more here

Tip: Head down to Frida’s Field Restaurant on the weekends for amazing fresh produce. Pop into Bangalow town for great cafes and boutiques.
